AIPAI Photo Contest 2024: together again to support young photographers and promote Italian heritage
NEWSThe third edition of the AIPAI Photo Contest is underway, and for the second year running we are partnering with the initiative by supporting the “Mecenati di Giovani Talenti” award [‘Patrons of Young Talent’ award]: our way of promoting young photographers and industrial heritage.
September 2024 saw the launch of the third edition of the AIPAI Photo Contest, organised by AIPAI, the Italian Association for Industrial Archaeological Heritage ETS, in collaboration with DICEA - Sapienza University of Rome, Do.co.mo.mo Italia, the Italian Ministry of Culture - UNESCO Office, Parco dell'Appia Antica, AEM Foundation, ISEC Foundation, Fondazione MAIRE, Musil Foundation, RoMe Museum Exhibition and Rete Fotografia.
The contest is designed to raise awareness and promote industrial culture, the memory of work, and the architectural, technological and landscape heritage of industrial archaeology. It is open to professional and amateur photographers, temporary or permanent groups, and associations, with no age or nationality restrictions, who can recount, document and represent industrial heritage through a photographic project.
The winning and mentioned photos will be published in the magazine “Patrimonio Industriale” (Industrial Heritage), and the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of €1,000.
For the second consecutive year has been confirmed the “Mecenati di giovani talenti” award [‘Patrons of Young Talent’ award], supported by the Fondazione MAIRE. It is reserved for non-professional photographers under the age of 35. The winner will have their photographs published in the magazine ‘Patrimonio Industriale’ (Industrial Heritage), exhibited at the AIPAI Exhibition, and will sign a contract worth €1,000.00 with the Foundation to create a photographic campaign dedicated to the Foundation's historical and archival heritage.
New to this third edition is the introduction of the ‘Appia Moderna e Industriale Special Prize,’ which focuses on the themes of the scientific collaboration agreement between AIPAI and the Ministry of Culture and is dedicated to the promotion and management of the modern and industrial heritage of the site nominated for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, ‘Via Appia. Regina Viarum.’
This year's competition invites photographers to develop one of the 12 thematic areas outlined in the rules. Applications must be submitted by midnight on 20 October 2024 [later extended to 31 October of the same year].
