A new “light” shines at the AIPAI Photo Contest 2024
NEWSAIPAI Photo Contest 2024 rewards its talented winners! Our “Mecenati di Giovani Talenti” award [‘Patrons of Young Talent’ award] went to Giovanni Peyrone for his photograph “Il ritorno della luce” [“The Return of Light”], dedicated to Rome's Gazometro.
It took place in Rome, at the RO.ME Museum Exhibition, on Friday 17 November, the award ceremony for the AIPAI Photo Contest 2024, the photography competition organised by AIPAI, the Italian Association for Industrial Heritage, and TICCIH Italia, the International Committee for the Conservation of Industrial Heritage, in collaboration with DICEA - Sapienza University of Rome, the Ministry of Culture - UNESCO Office, the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, Appia Antica Regional Park, Do.co.mo.mo Italia, AEM Foundation, ISEC Foundation, Fondazione MAIRE - ETS, Musil Foundation, RoMe Museum Exhibition and Rete Fotografia.
For the second consecutive year, the Fondazione MAIRE - ETS has chosen to partner with the initiative to contribute to the dissemination of industrial heritage culture and to support the “Mecenati di Giovani Talenti” award [‘Patrons of Young Talent’ award], dedicated to young amateur photographers under the age of 35.
This year's winner was Giovanni Peyrone, author of the photograph “Il ritorno della luce” [“The Return of Light”], dedicated to the former industrial hub of the Gazometro in Rome, now a symbol of a neighbourhood undergoing continuous cultural transformation.
“Talking about industrial heritage means talking about people. Because people's daily work constitutes the actions of companies that permeate the social fabric, communities and territories, writing the history of their heritage”. This is the testimony of our Heritage Manager Francesca Rinaldo, member of the jury and speaker at the event.
Fondazione MAIRE – ETS thus continues its work in support of young artistic talents who know how to interpret the human and technological challenges of the present and future in a new way and with transversal sensitivity, with a multidisciplinary approach capable of bringing together art, photography, industry, man, environment.
The Foundation will offer the winner a contract worth €1,000 for the creation of a special photography project dedicated to the MAIRE Group’s archival heritage.
