Our training course entitled “Yesterday, today, tomorrow: innovation transforming engineering and business” took place in Catania on November 19, 2025, as part of the 24th Confindustria and Museimpresa Enterprise Culture Week, which we joined together with the MAIRE group with two events this year.

On November 19, we welcomed 19 young students from the upper classes of the Liceo Boggio Lera high school in Catania to the Nextchem headquarters (a MAIRE group company engaged in the development of technologies for energy transition) in Catania to talk about innovation, the future, and engineering design. This was a unique class made up solely of fourth- and fifth-year high school students who asked their school to participate in our event because they were interested in the educational opportunity. “Yesterday, today, tomorrow: innovation that transforms engineering and business” was the title of the PCTO (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation) that we designed and developed to share with them the history of engineering design inherited and still being written by the Group companies.

From the MAIRE historical archive, where you can see original plant design correspondence, from photos of the work table in the drawing room where construction projects were once built to practice with a 3D viewer to visit a plant on the other side of the world through artificial intelligence, with the guidance of training and heritage experts from the Foundation and the technical knowledge of colleagues from MAIRE and Tecnimont. Retracing the history of the company's heritage to learn about the evolution of Italian engineering design and show young people a concrete example of how innovation transforms businesses, territories, and culture. Five hours of training and open dialogue, with an unfailing discussion of the new jobs offered by the energy transition and the approach to the world of work.

Based on what they learned during the lesson, the students will divide into three groups to carry out three project works: a presentation for a conference, a newspaper page, and a video—all describing how innovation transforms businesses. We can't wait to see their work in December!

A sincere thank you to the teachers who accompanied the students on this day together, actively participating in the exchange. Schools, their representatives, and teachers are our primary allies in spreading awareness about environmental issues.

The training initiative, together with the events held on November 13 dedicated to the book “In-Genium”, represented our participation in the 24th Enterprise Culture Week organized by Confindustria and Museimpresa—a network of which our Foundation is a member. This year's theme was "Telling the story of entrepreneurship. To make open and connected enterprises grow" an invitation to promote a dynamic business culture, rooted in the local area and close to the people. All the events were promoted and hosted by the Foundation together with the MAIRE group, which opened the doors of its offices in Milan and Catania for the occasion.
