The journey of our first research grant launched in July 2024 continues, aimed at funding socio-economic studies to investigate the relationship between migratory flows and energy transition in order to develop a training and employment inclusion path for migrants in the energy transition sector.
Eight studies and research projects have been funded by the Fondazione MAIRE - ETS with this grant. The projects involve three associations - Talent Beyond Boundaries (UK), AVSI and NeXt Nuova economia X tutti (IT) - and five individual researchers - Angelique Witjes (NL), Luigi Campaniello, Cecilia Fortunato, Antonio Mosetti, and Carla Ventre (IT) -, all coordinated by Prof. Andrea Billi, professor at Sapienza University of Rome and member of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
The research and studies are ongoing and will be completed by the end of August, to be published and presented in autumn in Rome.
The spectrum of specific topics addressed is broad, within the more general objective of investigating the potential, limits, and existing experiences on migrant training on energy transition topics and their employment inclusion in this sector, in Europe, with a particular focus on Italy. Existing best practices, the role of diasporic communities, existing skills on energy transition, possible guidelines and training methods for heterogeneous groups, inclusion of refugee women, and inclusion of migrants in high social impact green district projects: these are all angles touched by this articulated research project of the Fondazione MAIRE - ETS, which also relies on an in-depth desk analysis of the existing literature on the topic.
A project that lives in the wake of ongoing studies for several years on the training of the necessary skills for accelerating the energy transition to achieve global climate goals.
