Making the energy transition a more inclusive path. With this spirit, the MAIRE Foundation launched a call in 2024 for socio-economic studies on the relationship between migration flows and the energy transition.

As confirmed by our first research "Climate Goals", the energy transition represents more than just an urgent response to the climate crisis: it is also an unprecedented opportunity for job creation and the inclusion of women and minorities. For this reason, the Fondazione MAIRE – ETS has decided to fund projects for socio-economic studies on the relationship between migration flows and the energy transition.

The first call for research grants was launched in June 2024 and closed in December of the same year, thanks to the collection of applications from a variety of projects, which are currently under analysis and start-up.

The studies that the Foundation is supporting specifically look at the role that migrants can play in the development of the energy transition and in assisting the transformation of the production and distribution system that the energy transition requires.

The global and urgent growth of expertise on the energy transition, to enable the achievement of climate goals, and the need for the energy transition process to be as socially inclusive as possible, highlights the importance of integrating migrants into the labor fabric in the industrial and commercial sectors and activities related to the energy transition.

The studies funded by the Foundation will provide information, experiences, best practices, and relevant data to set up a training and labor inclusion path. These results will be presented publicly at the end of 2025 and will be reported on this page.
