On October 2, 2026, the Open Day for the project “Energy pathways: powering the future” sponsored by the Fondazione MAIRE–ETS, the Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy, and the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy – The Grand Mosque of Rome, took place at the Grand Mosque of Rome. The event was designed for youth and families to explore the educational and career opportunities offered by the renewable energy sector.

After Friday prayers, the Grand Mosque of Rome hosted the presentation of the initiative “Energy pathways: powering the future” resulting from a collaboration between the Fondazione MAIRE – ETS, the Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy, and the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy – Grand Mosque of Rome, with the goal of introducing young people to the issues surrounding the energy transition and the careers of the future.

The meeting opened with remarks by Abdellah Redouane, Secretary General of the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy – Great Mosque of Rome, who emphasized the importance of collaboration among institutions, businesses, and communities in helping young people build their own futures.

Next, Carlo Nicolais, Group Institutional Relations, Communication and Sustainability VP MAIRE and General Director of the Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy, spoke about the MAIRE Group, highlighting its international presence, its role in developing technologies for the energy transition, and the growing demand for new professional skills needed to support the major transformations currently underway. At the heart of his remarks was a simple yet fundamental conviction: the energy transition is not merely a technological challenge, but above all a challenge that concerns the people, talents, and skills that will be called upon to lead it.

Ilaria Catastini, General Director of the Fondazione MAIRE – ETS, then delved into the heart of the project “Energy pathways: powering the future” describing the journey that will guide young people in discovering new energy sources, emerging careers, and the opportunities offered by the energy transition. This initiative was created to bridge the gap between education and the workforce and is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting the younger generation through career guidance, training, and inclusion.

To complete the presentation, Federica Bitti, Group People Culture Development Specialist at MAIRE, presented the programs offered by the Fondazione Green Innovation ITS Academy, explaining how to enroll in the courses and highlighting the career opportunities available in the new energy sector. This program combines training with hands-on experience and can serve as the first step toward a career in the energy transition for many young people.

At the end of the meeting, there was a Q&A session with the attendees.

The Open House is just the first step in a dialogue—a journey—that we will build together: energy transition means opportunity!
