After the success of the "EvolveArt"competition last May, we wanted to shine a spotlight on the talent of young artists, students of Italian art high schools, who took the challenge and saw their artworks awarded in our competition (from joint winners to special mentions). Thus was born the idea to organise a roadshow, a travelling exhibition of the 28 winning artworks that would be displayed in a variety of places and occasions, both inside and outside our offices and at company events. Unconventional bargains to raise public awareness of the issues we care about: youth, the future, the environment, the energy transition, the climate crisis and its solutions.
The first stage of this roadshow was, not by chance, the Bioparco in Rome. The exhibition was open to the public (and promoted on our social channels) in the Sala degli Elefanti of the Bioparco from 21st to 30th September, during the normal opening hours of the park. The only exception was for our vernissage on the 24th of September, when the park extended its opening hours after 6pm just for us.
During the event, it was surprising and fascinating to listen to the views of such a diverse group of guests, which all converged in the same way of thinking: it is a priority to protect nature and biodiversity; it is necessary to work together at all levels (institutions, organisations, companies, schools) to spread a culture of sustainability and education for climate adaptation; it is necessary to have faith in young people, who must be encouraged and stimulated to think in original and creative ways to contribute to a more sustainable future from an environmental, economic and social point of view. The energy transition is not only a technological challenge, it is also a paradigm shift that needs to be embraced at a cultural level; art is the tool we have chosen to talk about it.
We would like to thank our Chairman Fabrizio Di Amato, Maria Grazia Dardanelli, President of the Associazione Amici della Biennale dei Licei Artistici, Edoardo Zanchini, Director of the Climate Office of the Municipality of Rome, and Rudi Bressa, environmental and scientific journalist, author of the essay "Traffickers of nature" (Codice Edizioni, 2023) for their participation in the event and their contribution to the panel.
Special thanks to Lucia Venturi, Director of the Bioparco of Rome, both for her contribution to the panel and for giving us this wonderful opportunity to bring together the art of young artists and nature to talk about respect, the environment and the future.
The “EvolveArt roadshow” continues! Stay tuned to find out more about the next stops and get involved!
