The role of sustainability today: a new opportunity to chart ‘TRAJECTORIES’ in Milan with Alkemy Group
NEWSOn 25 June 2026, the presentation of the Alkemy Group’s first Group Sustainability Report took place in Milan. For the occasion, the Group brought together a number of key stakeholders to discuss the role of sustainability today – our General Manager, Ilaria Catastini, attended on our behalf.
On 25 June 2026, Via Monte Rosa in Milan hosted the event «Oltre la compliance: il ruolo della sostenibilità nell’era della policrisi» (‘Beyond Compliance: The Role of Sustainability in the Era of Multiple Crises’), organised by the Alkemy Group. To present its first Sustainability Report, the Alkemy Group brought together representatives from institutions and businesses to discuss the current challenges that are reshaping the global social and economic landscape.
The discussion was opened by Prof. Enrico Giovannini, co-founder and scientific director of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (AsviS), who reflected on the value of sustainability as a driver of competitiveness, resilience and innovation within an extremely complex and constantly evolving international context – one characterised by multiple crises.
This theme was taken up and explored in greater depth during the round-table discussion that followed, moderated by Zornitza Kratchmarova (ESG & Sustainability Director Alkemy Group), with contributions from five distinguished guests:
- Ilaria Catastini - Head of Sustainability & Corporate Advocacy MAIRE Group and General Manager Fondazione MAIRE – ETS
- Sabrina Cirillo – ESG Director FSI
- Enrica Maria Danese - Corporate Communication & Sustainability Director Tim
- Giovanna Li Perni - Head of Private Partnerships & Philanthropy UNHCR Italia
- Giovanna Zacchi - Responsabile Servizio ESG Strategy BPER
This was a fruitful opportunity for our General Manager, Ilaria Catastini, to illustrate how the two strands – the no-profit and the for-profit sector – can chart synergistic paths within the framework of sustainability. This is the case with our ‘TRAJECTORIES’ project strand, which originated from eight studies summarised in a report of the same name, investigating the links between migration flows, skills and the energy transition, with the aim of integrating migrants and refugees into the energy and engineering sector. Building on this analysis, a number of initiatives have also been launched to integrate migrants into the workforce within the MAIRE Group.
Accompanying this account is the perspective of Giovanna Li Perni, continuing the broader open dialogue with Chiara Cardoletti and UNHCR at our ‘TRAIETTORIE’ launch event last year at the Chamber of Commerce [see the dedicated news article here].
We would like to thank Alkemy Group for inviting us to this important roundtable discussion.
