Fondazione MAIRE back at Archivissima: a passion for archival materials and creativity intertwine
NEWSThe seventh edition of “Archivissima” took place from 6 to 9 June 2024, celebrating shared passions alongside all the archives that took part. The Fondazione MAIRE took part for the second year running, showcasing the Group’s heritage through new forms of expression.
The seventh edition of Archivissima – promoted by Promemoria Group and organised by the social promotion association Archivissima APS – in 2024 reaffirmed the event’s position as a unique initiative in the promotion of archives: over 450 organisations, 100 new participants, 22 regional or thematic networks, around 180 in-person events across the region, a programme consisting entirely of live events in Turin, and hundreds of previously unpublished digital resources.
The Fondazione MAIRE took part, for the second year running, in the ‘Festival and Night of the Archives’, but with a new twist. Whilst in 2023 the theme of ‘journey’ provided an opportunity to share a video showcasing the many journeys one can undertake through the materials of the MAIRE Historical Archive, the 2024 edition, themed #passions, sought to celebrate archives as custodians of stories and emotions capable of transforming the world: personal passions that become collective history, emotions and visions that tell the story of who we have been and inspire us to imagine who we want to be.
Hence our contribution through “Tre rose rosse” (Three Red Roses), an intense and nostalgic short story inspired by a scale model held in the MAIRE Group’s Historical Archive, written by our MAIRE colleague Carlo Boniardi for the “Barbara Picutti Creative Contest” – 2024 edition, “Tool Tales”. It is a story in which the passion between the protagonists is intertwined with their dedication to their work: the contrast between the harshness of the industrial environment and the delicacy of their feelings creates an intense emotional tension that captivates the reader right up to the very last page. Through a journey spanning past and present, the story traces the stages of their relationship, culminating in a moving and revealing conclusion.

Archives are a treasure trove of stories; sometimes all it takes is the right opportunity to tell them!
